Technology Workshop

Girls are encouraged to innovate by learning a professional programming language, and starting their own creative tech journey in a series of workshops. With the support of motivated and inspiring university students, girls will learn fundamental programming skills and get a chance to apply them to real-life projects.

These sessions are geared towards girls looking to acquire and practice new tech skills. Participants will also learn soft skills such as pitching ideas, business strategies and digital media marketing.

Web Design

This Technology Lab series will focus on Website Building, Design, Publication and everything else you need to launch your own website. Including HTML, CSS and JavaScript basics.

Python

There are tens of thousands of Python websites on the internet, it’s easy to learn and powerful to work with. Python is a popular language with both beginners and advanced developers. Many of today’s most successful tech companies, such as Google, Instagram, Spotify, Netflix, Uber and Pinterest are choosing Python for the back-end of their website.

Robotics

Learn some robotics theory, and most importantly how to build and program small robots to execute interesting tasks. We use both Lego and Sphero robots as course support for guaranteed fun!

Mobile App

Girls will design, build and program their own mobile app.

Artifical Intelligence & Art

Dive into the world of AI & Arts: learn how AI works, explore its applications, and create unique art that unleashes your creativity while testing the power of AI tools. Discover the future of AI development and consider the risks it brings.

” The course that we taught at the school of Kilchberg during the autumn semester of 2023 allowed us to interact with 8 young girls every week, creating a safe space where learning and self-expression were encouraged. As the main organiser and teacher, I could witness the steady progress of the girls who now grasp important programming concepts, such as functions, variables, and for-loops (all of that at the age of 10, this is truly impressive!). Most importantly, we were able to foster a common interest in technology and logical thinking in this course, and crucially experience and interact with technical systems such as the imagiCharm (an LED display) and the Lego Mindstorms robots.”

Characteristic of today’s society, the girls present in this group had different familial backgrounds and not the same familiarity with technology outside of school. Following one of our core missions at GirlsCodeToo, we could empower these girls to discover the world of technology, and hopefully enlarge their vocational interests in a world where women are still underrepresented in technical and scientific fields.

Our Recurring Programmes

Robotics and Dance Camp

The Dance & Code Camp, organised in collaboration with the Canton of Zurich, takes place two to three times a year during the school holidays. Girls spend their days dancing and coding, engaging both body and mind. At the end of the week, they showcase their new skills to their families in a joyful presentation where the robots join the dance. This moment is always a highlight for everyone involved.

Tech Camp in Silvaplana

Held in the beautiful Engadin region, this camp takes place two to three times a year during the school holidays and welcomes both girls and boys. Over several days, participants explore robotics and Python programming through guided sessions that also give them space to follow their own interests and learn at their own pace.

The Robotics and Dance camp gives girls a unique experience in discovering coding and robotics in a creative setting. We spend the week learning to build and code the robots to ultimately design a robot dance choreography. Teaching at a camp is wonderful as it allows us instructors to create a rapport with the girls, and we get to share with them our experiences in tech and engineering. We get to see a diverse group of young girls learn new skills and gain confidence in trying, failing, and creating. In this course, we promote working together and sharing ideas. We always finish the week strong with a presentation of the robot choreography, where the girls can see the outcome of their hard work and creativity. My favorite part of teaching this course is seeing them realize that technology can be applied to any field and has endless possibilities.

3D-printing workshops

Our 3D-printing workshops bring coding and craftsmanship together. Participants start by designing their own objects in TinkerCAD, then prepare the files for printing, set up the printer, change materials, and even troubleshoot when something goes wrong. Once their pieces are printed, they learn to solder and assemble LED components to bring their creations to life.
We love seeing girls turn ideas into real, tangible objects, using both creativity and technical skill.

New in 2025:

We are opening these workshops to mother-daughter pairs, big sisters, aunts and female mentors, offering the chance to learn and create side by side.
This is made possible by the support of the Federal Office for Gender Equality.

As a 3D printing and overall DIY enthusiast, it is delightful to be able to share my experience with interested and enthusiastic students. It is inspiring to see students tap into their creativity and master new skills in order to bring their creative visions to life with the help of 3D printing technologies. I hope this experience encourages them to embrace their creativity, experiment boldly, and realize they have the power to bring their visions to life. By exploring everything from 3D modelling to soldering and assembling electronics, they gain some tools to reimagine what’s possible. It’s my hope that this workshop sparks a lifelong curiosity about the world of making and innovation.

After-school coding clubs

Our after-school classes run weekly throughout the semester and offer girls a consistent space to learn coding in a fun, structured environment, just like any other after-school activity. Participants start with creative programming projects and gradually move on to building and coding robots. This format allows them to develop real skills over time and apply what they learn in different ways, while enjoying a regular activity they can look forward to each week.
